BAGBY & Balk have gone top of the newitts.com Beckett League first division table following a 5-1 home romp against Rosedale.

The visitors played 70 minutes of the match with three generations of the same family on the pitch as player-manager Alastair Wilkinson's 53-year-old father Richard came on as a substitute, joining grandsons Ollie and Robin in the Dale team.

Right-sided midfielder Robin was the pick of the bunch, but the Wilkinson family could not prevent Bagby forging into a two-goal half-time lead with Stuart Winter netting from a Jamie Clark corner and Stevie Tarparley also on target.

Rosedale responded early in the second period when the skilful Richard Wilkinson supplied the through ball for Tom Bell to reduce the deficit.

But a long clearance by keeper Tommy Hunter set up James Parkinson for Bagby's third, before Tom Chapman made the scoresheet and Olly Brooks wrapped up matters with an unstoppable 25-yard shot.

Left-winger Darren Bell was the man of the match.

Heslerton enjoyed their first league win of the season - but a third successive victory in all competitions - with goals from Joe Schofield and Chris Bell securing the points despite Joe Brown's consolation for Slingsby.

Right-wing back Luke Simpson was the man of the match with defender Dave Drabble impressing for Slingsby.

Man-of-the-match Connor Campbell scored two free kicks within the space of a minute as Wombleton Wanderers overcame Thornton-le-Dale 3-1.

Wanderers' other marksman was Jake Dennison with Craig Sunley replying for Thornton, for whom defender Paul Simpson starred.

In division two, Duncombe Park are the new leaders following a 3-0 win at Heslerton reserves thanks to man-of-the-match Jack Chadwick's hat-trick.

Heslerton's top performer was Andy Norman.

Steve Johnson and Toby Wells both struck twice as Stillington Sports and Social club enjoyed their first-ever league win, defeating hosts Settrington 4-2 with midfielder Wayne Linton turning in a man-of-the-match performance.

Gillamoor beat Brooklyn thirds 4-1 with man-of-the-match Patrick Bernstein joined on the scoresheet by Ryan Rivis, Charlie Williams and Ryan Mintoft.

Josh Brittain, Graham Atkinson, Tim Whincup, man-of-the-match Greg Fawcett and Andrew Spittlehouse, with a 35-yard effort, were all on target during Pickering Knights' 5-0 thrashing of Snainton reserves.

Knights' Will Hodgson also had a penalty saved.

Callun Dent's first-half double strike for Union Rovers saw Norton United drop their first league points of the season.

But Rovers fought back to claim a draw with Thomas Eddery scoring a diving header and Danny Dawes adding his first goal in senior football two minutes from time.

The man-of-the-match honours went to left-sided midfielder Nathan Cross (Norton) and left-back Martin Benson (Rovers).

In the Gordon Harrison Memorial Trophy, Union Rovers led twice before bowing out 4-2 to Kirkbymoorside reserves.

Callum Holmes and Sam Simpson efforts nudged Rovers in front 1-0 and 2-1 but Shaun Cox and Damon Cox levelled the scores respectively.

Further goals from man-of-the-match Damon Cox and Lee Nesfield smoothed the Moorsiders' passage into the next round.

Central-midfielder Nicky Drew was Rovers' star man.

Man-of-the-match Alex Croall hit a hat-trick as Kirkdale United reserves thumped Thornton-le-Dale reserves 6-1.

Luke Walton, Rob Galtrey and Glen Forrester also netted.
