THE Scarborough & District FA Junior Cup second round tie at Sinnington on Saturday proved to be a real family affair.

The Sinners beat fellow newitts.com Beckett League side Rosedale 7-3 - and at the end of the game there were five members of the same family on the pitch.

They were Rosedale’s player-manager Alastair Wilkinson and his two brothers Robin and Ollie, plus their cousins David and Stuart, who are Sinnington stalwarts.

The Sinners, with Paul Harland the star man, were worthy winners thanks to goals by David Wilkinson (2), Adam Stephens, Graham Bateman, Toby Edwards, Michael Bumby and an own goal. The Rosedale marksmen were man-of-the-match Tom Bell (2) and an own goal.

Last season's beaten finalists, Wombleton Wanderers, won 5-1 at Falsgrave Athletic.

Wombleton were 4-1 up by half-time through man-of-the-match Tom Ellis (2), Lewis Hutchinson and Josh Tateson, sandwiching a reply by Mark Reddy. Tateson added a second for himself in the second half.

Thornton-le-Dale beat Slingsby 5-0.

The first quarter was all Slingsby but they came up against a keeper, David Sturgess, in outstanding form.

Thornton took the lead a minute before the interval when a Nick Wilkinson corner was superbly headed in by Gary Parker. Second half goals followed from Parker, Danny Russell, David Elliot and Tim Hunt.

Craig Sunley was Thornton's man of the match, with Mike Anderson and Danny Nunwick shining for Slingsby.

Cup holders Lingdale United thrashed Norton United 12-0 with Anthony Jones hitting four goals and Lewis Henderson three. Edgar Ledajs impressed in vain for Norton.

Rob McPherson stood out for Westover Wasps reserves but his his team lost 8-0 to Lealholm.

Edgehill reserves were made to work hard by Ayton reserves before winning 5-0 thanks to second-half goals by man-of-the-match Martyn Ferrey (2), David Bell, Keith Skelton and John-Paul Watson.

Seamer Sports reserves beat Scalby Reserves 6-0, Gareth Sygroves hitting for goals. Chris Mattison also scored and was man of the match.

Malton & Norton reserves had a great 3-0 win at fellow York Minster Engineering League outfit Brooklyn reserves.

Tom Garbutt gave them a first-half advantage, an own goal on 75 minutes doubled it, and, five minutes rom time, Steve Hoggard scored from the spot to seal victory.

Ryan Cooper was M&N's man of the match, Tom Everett taking the Brooklyn award.

Eastway Sports beat Pickering Knights 4-2 with strikes by Nathan Till (2), Dave Darling and an own goal,
