Champions Ryedale ‘A’ look intent on keeping their Ryedale League division one crown - beating Whitby 8-2 and whitewashing Ryedale ‘C’ 10-0 in their first two games.

Both James Rule and John Flintoft remained undeafeated.

After beating Ryedale ‘D’ 9-1 in their opener, Coneysthorpe ‘A’ were rocked by losing 6-4 to Ryedale ‘B’.

New signing Richard Denton (3), Dave Burnham (2) and Mike Fenby (1) won for Ryedale.

Amotherby ‘A’ beat Ryedale ‘C’ 6-4 through Tom Needham (3), Gareth Bryning (2) and new signing Paul Cuthbertson (1). Bryning and Cuthbertson’s games against Dave Quinlan saw spectacular counter hitting and astonishing rallies.

Helmsley ‘A’ saw off Ryedale ‘B’ 6-4, six games going to five sets. Charlie Allott (3) and Adam Ridley (2) won the doubles for Helmsley.

Coneysthorpe ‘B’ lead division two after drawing 5-5 with Swinton ‘B’ and then defeating Ryedale ‘E’ 9-1. Dave Allen, Eddie and Wendy Prest look a formidable team.

Hutton-le-Hole ‘B’ stalwarts Doug Annan (3), Andrew Chappell (3) Don Clark (3) showed their intent to bounce straight back up after relegation to division three with a 10-0 win over Amotherby ‘D’ and a 5-5 draw with Westow, who won their first match 8-2 against Amotherby ‘E’.
