Marcus Godsell led the way with a hat-trick in a man-of-the-match performance, with strike partner Tom Fenwick and centre-back Dean Readman also netting. Saints have no league game this weekend.

Terrington Glory's winless start to the season continued as a hat-trick from star man Wayne Brook and a Chris Jackson strike gave Riccall the points in a 4-2 win at the Regen Centre.

Brooklyn also began with a win, 2-1 at Hamilton Panthers - helped by some early heroics and a second-half penalty save by goalkeeper Andy Slaughter.

Brooklyn started the game in a sloppy fashion, with poor distribution failing to meet the standards they showed in pre-season.

Panthers soon began to dominate, forcing Slaughter into a series of top-class saves before gaining a deserved breakthrough after carving Brooklyn open down the left hand side.

The ball was cut back across the face of Brooklyn’s goalmouth and Kyle Butler had a routine finish into the vacant net.

The goal, though, gave Brooklyn the kick they had deserved and needed, and the away side suddenly sprung into life and got back into the game, with efforts from Bradley Spink and Tom Hoggard before half-time being well saved.

The second half brought a well-rounded display from the visitors, helped by an excellent attitude and team spirit considering the absentees.

Matthew Webster drew his side level with a fierce effort into the far corner of the net from 25 yards after latching onto a second ball.

This goal set up a tense finale and, with the clock ticking, the game seemed to be Hamilton's hands as they were awarded a penalty as Ryan Boyd was adjudged to commit a foul on the edge of the area.

Man-of-the-match Slaughter, though, again came to the rescue with a fine save from the spot.

Again Brooklyn were lifted and, with five minutes remaining, they snatched the victory as George Moore’s delightful cross from the right was met by Hoggard, who glanced his header into the far corner.
