THE Derwent Valley League campaign ended with a whimper as only one game went ahead in division ‘A’.

Hospitals/Rugby Club lost by eight wickets at home to Flamborough, who coasted to 95-2 chasing a target of 94 all out.

Andy Dixon hit 36 not out for Flamborough after Marcus Garcia’s 3-28 had helped to curtail the home side’s innings.

Muston had a walkover win against Forge Valley 3rds and Whitby 3rds were also unable to raise a team for their game against Sewerby 3rds.

There were no games for Great Habton and Lockton due to the earlier resignations of Oriel and Brompton 2nds.

The only game played in division ‘B’ saw Kirkbymoorside 2nds total 124 en route to a 34-run victory over Wold Newton.

Kirkby’s innings included runs from Howard Mudd, with 31, and Jamie Harper, who hit 52, as Tim Lazenby claimed 7-29 for Wold Newton 2nds.

The visitors, who finished the season as runners-up, were then restricted to 90-6.

Filey 2nds had a walkover win against Snainton.

Cayton 3rds were crowned division ‘C’ champions after a 65-run win over Scalby 3rds.

Cayton totalled 111-8 and then dismissed runners-up Scalby for 46 as Darren Jones took 4-15 and Simon Stubbs 4-9.

Muston finished short on 141-8 despite 26 by James McMillan and 29 from Ray Roberts.

John Ellis took 3-40 for Thornton Dale.

Ravenscar 2nds were all out for 159 but that was enough to see off Valley Bar Nomads, who were skittled for 106.

John Morrison made 26 not out for Ravenscar as Dave Parkinson took 3-22 and Anthony Hulme claimed 3-40.

Valley Bar’s best batsman was Craig Best with 36, while John Stokoe took 3-18 and Luke Stokoe 4-33.
