OSBALDWICK suffered a chastening experience at Copmanthorpe where they crashed to a 133-run division four central defeat after being dismissed for just 35.
Batting first, Copmanthorpe were well served by half-centuries from Nathan Hawley (55no) and Andy Northfield (50) who prevailed over Ed Baldwin (3-37) and D Harris (3-39).
Their efforts were utterly eclipsed as John Hughes banked 6-21 and A Byers 4-10.
Graham Purdy made 44 out of Civil Service’s 138-9 at Huby, whose Jon Wright took 3-34 and Howard Gill 3-19. Huby then posted a convincing nine-wicket win as Mike South hit an unbeaten 92 and Darren Howell made 32no.
Sheriff Hutton’s Neil Fairweather had only made 17 runs in the division before he batted against Stillington but he improved on this modest figure in convincing manner.
He compiled a splendid 147 to post a new club record. Fairweather’s innings enabled Sheriff to take tea with the board showing their score on 245-4 at Stillington.
The home batsmen then displayed their satisfaction with the playing strip as they responded with 179-3 with Tim Jarvis hitting 112 and Peter Jarvis making 49.
