MUCH-TRAVELLED former Bury striker Gareth Seddon scored a 10-minute hat-trick to send Scarborough Athletic to defeat on their Evo-Stik division one north bow.
The Seadogs, who were switched from division one south over the summer, kicked off their campaign with a 4-1 defeat at Salford City – the club now owned by Manchester United legends Paul Scholes, Nicky Butty, Ryan Giggs and the Neville brothers.
Seddon, who has joined Salford from Chester, bagged his second-half treble shortly after Gary Bradshaw missed a penalty at the other end.
Sam Madeley had opened the scoring for the hosts after 16 minutes, with Boro equalising a minute before half-time through a fine solo goal by Jordan Thewliss.
After the resumption, Bradshaw saw his spot kick saved by Salford’s debutant keeper, Tom Stewart.
Seddon netted with a fine header from a cross by Danny Webber, the former United youngster, then netted a penalty. His last goal was a 35-lob after 70 minutes.
Scarborough entertained Harrogate Railway last night (Tuesday), and on Saturday host New Mills (3pm).
