Whitby Town were unlucky not to get a point from their opening game of the Evo-Stik premier division as a late goal consigned them to a 2-1 defeat at Stourbridge on Saturday.

The hosts took the lead through Jordan Fitzpatrick after a superb left-wing run and clever flick by Ben Billingham.

They could have increased their lead but for some impressive goalkeeping by Shane Bland.

The Blues equalised after 52 minutes when former Pickering Town player Liam Shepherd scored with a powerful left-foot shot from the edge of the area.

Sean Geddes scored the winner seven minutes from time in front of a crowd of 415.

Whitby are at home tonight (Wednesday, 7.45pm) to Curzon Ashton and on Saturday they host Skelmersdale United (3pm).
