IT'S Ladies' Day at Beverley today and Pamushana can strike a blow for the females by opening her winning account.

The two-year-old made a bright start to her career at Newmarket last month when finishing a promising fifth in a big field and this daughter of Teofilio looks set to build on that initial effort in the Hull Daily Mail/British Stallion Studs Maiden Stakes over an extended seven furlongs.

Tony Hamilton, who takes the mount on nap selection Pamushana, was in terrific form at Thirsk on Monday night when riding three winners, all for Richard Fahey, the fillies' Malton trainer, who has his string in remarkable form.

Not only did Fahey complete a Monday four-timer, courtesy of another winner at Ayr in the afternoon, he had also achieved another four-timer on Saturday and, in between those two bumper days, he won the Group 1 Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville in France with France, a race worth more than £166,000 to the winner.

Noodles Blue Boy has been a terrific stalwart to the Ollie Pears stable in recent years and the popular gelding is fancied to land the Rawfield And Paragon Data Handicap over five furlongs.

Noodles Blue Boy seems to reserve his best performances for this course and distance and he returns to Beverley in excellent heart after missing out by only a nose to Poyle Vinnie at Pontefract recently. Robert Winston, in the saddle that day, again has the mount.

George Chaloner, pictured, is enjoying a dream season and can win the featured £10,000 Bridge McFarland Solicitors Handicap over a mile and a quarter on Woodacre, trained by Richard Whitaker, whose horses are probably in better overall form now than at any time of the season.

Woodacre has won his last two races at Pontefract and Ripon and is plainly a horse climbing the ladder. He has been raised only another 3lb since his latest success and is fancied to take all the beating under Chaloner, whose big-race successes this season have included the Wokingham Handicap at Royal Ascot and Newcastle's Northumberland Plate.

Brian Ellison may hold the key to the Incentive FM Handicap with Mixed Message.

The filly resumed winning ways at Redcar last time and, although that was only in selling grade, her rating has never altered as a result and she promises to be competitive in this low-grade handicap. Tom Eaves takes the mount.

John Quinn can win the 'Woody' Memorial Handicap with Miss Tree, the mount of Joe Doyle, who is excellent value for his 5lb allowance.

Miss Tree has finished in the frame in all her four starts this season. Still largely unexposed, she stays well and is fancied to run a big race in this mile and a half event.

Al Muheer (2.00), trained by Ruth Carr at Stillington and the promising Rock Follies (3.00), trained by Lady Cecil, are two others to note on what promises to be a big day at Beverley.

At Salisbury, William Haggas bids for the feature honours with My Spirit in the £41,000 EBF Stallions Upavon Stakes.

Haggas has placed My Spirit to win all her three races. She is gradually climbing through the ranks and although this Listed event presents a heady challenge compared to her previous races, the three-year-old has the scope and ability to cope with the rise in class.

Ryan Moore, rider of My Spirit, looks likely to be the jockey to follow throughout the card.

Moore also has solid winning chances on the progressive Darshini (2.50), recent winner Tercel (3.25) and Peticoat Lane (4.30), who has shown enough to suggest a race or two is within her compass.
