THE wind was high for Malton Wheelers’ latest 10.5-mile hilly time trial around the Hambleton Hills.

The start was at Swinton and the seven riders headed out to Slingsby, against a really strong wind. The aero riders had the advantage here as the results show.

Paul Hickman put Matthew Enticknap in his place this week winning with 26 minutes 27 seconds to Enticknap’s 26-56. Ralph Lilley, still recovering from surgery, put in a great time of 28-56 for third.

Others were Dave Cook (29-11), a visitor from Clifton Cycling Club, Mick Potter (29-53), who was chuffed with his time considering he had ridden a 100-mile time trial the previous weekend, Cameron Turner (29-54), on a standard road bike, and Mark Devine (31-01).

The Wheelers’ next time trial is the Leavening Scramble tonight. Riders are to meet at the bottom of Welham Road at 7.15pm.
