NORTH YORKSHIRE racegoers have an exciting double-header lined up today with an afternoon meeting at Thirsk and an evening fixture at York, separated by a mere 40 minutes and spanning a total of 13 races.

The feature event is the British Stallion Studs EBF Lyric Fillies Stakes, a Listed event on Knavesmire, which offers Regardez the chance to complete a quick double.

The Ralph Beckett-trained three-year-old, who finished a good third in the Musidora Stakes on this course in May, was a six lengths winner of a Listed event at Newcastle at the end of last month. A reproduction of that form would put her firmly in the reckoning here with Jim Crowley in the saddle.

Nigel Tinkler has good prospects of getting the York action underway with a winner, courtesy of Green Zone in the DRS Television Apprentice Handicap.

The three-year-old has been in cracking form lately, ending a sequence of runner-up efforts with a win in the mud at Pontefract before following-up under considerably quicker conditions at Thirsk.

A 6lb penalty and tougher opposition makes life more difficult for Green Zone this evening, but he's a horse at the top of his game. The accomplished Shelley Birkett has the mount.

The Tim Bresnan Testimonial Season Handicap over six furlongs presents Tinkler and Birkett with another winning chance with Teetotal, but the four-year-old is marginally passed over in favour of Arctic Feeling, trained by Richard Fahey and the mount of Samantha Bell.

The Malton gelding is overdue a winning turn, but he has run some rock-solid races in defeat this summer and, provided things fall right for him here, he should be in the mix.

The Sky Bet Supporting The Yorkshire Racing Festival Handicap looks a tightly-knit affair, but David O'Meara has a better chance than any other trainer of scooping the spoils as he saddles three of the twelve runners.

While the pick of the trio could well be Anderiego, O'Meara may have trouble containing Richard Fahey, who is doubly-represented by Tiger Twenty Two and Simply Shining. Slight preference is for Tiger Twenty Two, a course winner, who ran a sound race at Chester on his latest outing.

Kevin Ryan introduces an interesting juvenile in Swift Approval in the Bentleys Cash And Carry Maiden Stakes. Graham Lee's mount cost 90,000gns as a yearling.

Ryan takes the wraps off an even more valuable newcomer at Thirsk in Mighty Kip, who changed hands for 280,000gns at the breeze-up sales. He is selected to make a winning debut in the ebfstallions.com Maiden Stakes.

Jack Garritty's recent move to Richard Fahey could produce a winner, thanks to Vimy Ridge in the Skybet Supporting The Yorkshire Racing Summer Festival Handicap.

The consistent juvenile was a respectable fourth in hot company at Newcastle last time out and will benefit from Garritty's valuable 5lb allowance in a race where Fahey has three decent chances.

Incredible Fresh may prove the answer to the Racing UK Android App Handicap.

Trained at Newmarket by James Fanshawe, the three-year-old finished second last time out at Thirsk in maiden company. Now qualified for handicaps, he looks to be starting on a workable mark. Shane Kelly has the mount.

The step up to six furlongs should suit nap selection Burren View Lady in the Infinity Tyres Fillies' Handicap.

Tim Easterby's charge was a beaten favourite at Doncaster last week after being taken off her feet in the early stages over the minimum trip. This stiffer test will suit her.

Easterby also has a sound chance with Captain Dunne in the Racing Excellence 'Hands and Heels' Apprentice Series Handicap.

This one-time high-class sprinter got back in the winning groove at Haydock two outings ago and was from disgraced on his latest start.
