PROLIFIC Duncombe Park batsman Brian Leckenby was out in the 90s for the second time this season in the Hunters York & District Senior League -but that fine knock and an early declaration, plus some good bowling in the reply, proved in vain due to the weather.

Leckenby's innings of 90 was the backbone of the promotion-chasing home side’s 177-7 declared against Pocklington in their division two north game at Helmsley.

Visitors Pock were then in trouble at 54-6 off 20 overs when the weather came to their rescue, with Duncombe's reward being only 12 points.

Leaders Osbaldwick, though, saw their match at Ripon abandoned without a ball bowled, so they collected only the basic nine points.

Hovingham'ss match at Thirsk was cut short early on with the hosts on 8-0, likewise Sheriff Hutton's game at Tadcaster Magnet in which the home side had made 20-1.
