ROB HEATH shot a six-under-par 66 at Sandburn Hall Golf Club and still didn’t win the Flaxton course’s midweek medal.

Heath, golf manager at the track just off the A64, fired an outward 32 - with birdies at the third, fourth, fifth and ninth - and an inward 34. He picked up shots on the 14th, 16th and 17th.

The 23-year-old’s only bogey came at the 12th.

It was enough to claim division one honours but Heath missed out on the overall prize as 25-handicapper Paul Walker shot a nett 65 to edge him out by a stroke.

Heath’s stellar round, though, improved his handicap from 0.2 to -0.4.

YORKSHIRE beat Cumbria 10-8 to maintain their charge for the Northern League title.

The team, which includes Pikes Hills GC members Martin Brown and Craig Smith, play their next match against Cheshire at Bramall Park on August 9.

RUDDING PARK Golf Academy’s Andrew Rigby shot a one-under-par 70 to win the winning the Druh Belts & Buckles PGA North Assistants’ Challenge for the Sue Wright Trophy, which was staged at Helsby GC.

A STABLEFORD points tally of 37 saw 12-handicapper Michael Hildred win the York Union of Golf Clubs’ Senior Championship at Scarthingwell GC on Wednesday.
