DIVISION one leaders Heworth had little problem in overcoming lowly Bolton Percy by eight wickets in the York & District Senior Cricket League.

Buddhi Mirando was Percy’s top scorer with 47 in their 148 all out, while Tom Atkinson made 26 as Graham Knott took 3-26 and Dan Walton 4-34.

Neil Johnson hit 49 and Will Huffer 61 as the leaders coasted home.

Mid-table Folkton & Flixton improved their position when they had the better of a draw at home to Whitkirk.

Michael Walmsley led the Folkton batting with 53, Jamie Nesfield made 46 and Scott Cooper added 40 in their 236. Whitkirk drew at 179-53.

Sessay maintained their promotion drive with a six-wicket home win over Driffield.

Driffield posted 194-7 thanks to an unbeaten 83 by John Robinson and 55 by Oliver Goldsworthy as Matt Till claimed 4-17.

Goldsworthy then followed with 4-21 but saw his efforts trumped by Mark Wilkie, who hit 123 not out. Matt Till made 29 and Nick Thorne 25 not out.

Second-placed Pickering had the worst of a draw at Acomb and dropped into third place behind Heworth and Sessay.

The Dale brothers were again in good form for Acomb, with Joe making 72 and Matt 45. With Andy Tute adding 28 and Richard Sykes an undefeated 33, Acomb bagged full batting points at 201-7 despite Mark Shepherd’s 3-41.

Pickering mounted a good reply before closing on 193-9 as Mark Bell, with 5-43, and Tute, with 3-23, almost stitched up a victory.

Chris Nicholls made 27 for the Pikes, while Mike Brown hit 42, Colin Frank 44 and Shepherd 28.

Goole Town eased their relegation fears with a 38-run win over Bridlington. Goole’s 180-9 included 64 by Neil Foster and Bridlington were then all out for 142.

The bottom two sides in the division faced up at Malton, where the home side inflicted a ten-wicket thrashing on Selby, who now trail their victors by 76 points.

There were promising innings from Mike Smales (25), Matt Hoyle (33) and Paul Heseltine (26no), but Selby were bowled out for 127 with Wayne Dawson taking 3-23 and Chris Hudson 3-30.

Malton then sailed to victory as Shaun Harland made 63 not out and Steve Linsley 58 not out.
