TADCASTER Magnet’s batsmen were in fine form when they entertained fifth-placed Hovingham and totalled 262-7 in division two north.

Tyrone Naude hit 78 and Phil Smith 82 while Naddeem Shefta chipped in with 28. Paul Deverell replied with 35 but Paul Clark’s 4-46 had Hovingham all out for 112.

Peter Kent smote 101 to set up an advantage draw for second-placed Duncombe Park at home to Dringhouses. With James Skelton supporting with 57, Park totalled 245-6.

Dringhouses made a spirited reply, gaining them full batting points with a draw at 205-8. Tom Owen made 30, John Patrick 38 and Chris Storey 31. Kent claimed 3-31.

Leaders Osbaldwick suffered their first defeat of the season when Thirsk travelled south to clinch a 76-run victory.

Stuart Christon firstly made 73 and then followed with 3-36. There were other Thirsk runs from Harry Consett (25) and Mark Cook (57) in a total of 211-9.

Osbaldwick’s Jonny Rawsthorne returned 5-42. Christon found a good bowling ally in Jake Petty, who took 4-26 as Osbaldwick tumbled to 135 all out, with Andy Rippon making 43 and Matt Hattee 27.

Batsmen prospered in the sunshine at Pocklington, where the game produced a total of 501 runs before Harrogate emerged as three-wicket winners. Neil Jackson was dismissed for 99 when Pocklington took first knock. Rich Readman’s 44 helped Pocklington reach 249-8, despite a 4-76 return by Rob Stanworth. Harrogate moved to victory at 252-7 despite Connaire Brattan’s 3-43.

York III’s Tom Leeming hit an unbeaten 105 in a total of 225-5 in a bottom of the table clash with Ripon, who drew at 179-8.
