MATT CROWL won the latest Shepherd Angling Club match on the River Derwent.

Conditions below the wood at Kirkham Abbey were perfect, with a bit of colour in the water, but the roach and dace normally caught on this stretch failed to show in any numbers.

Crowl's 10lb haul included three chub, each around 3lb, putting him ahead of Pete Mills, whose 7lb 9oz included two chub.

A number of York & District Amalgamation of Anglers' members have called an extraordinary general meeting to discuss amendments to two rules relating to voting rights at the annual general meeting.

Them meeting will take place on Monday, July 28 in the club headquarters at St Clement's Club, at 8pm.

YDAA yearbooks should be carried by those attending for voting purposes on the amendments.

Meanwhile, for the next three Mondays a working party will be blitzing the Laybourne Lakes complex.

All volunteers will be welcome to help out and should bring tools for strimming and lopping, plus raking up the cut material.
