EASINGWOLD closed the gap on leaders Woodhouse Grange to eight points after their drawn game in the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League premier division.

A fine unbeaten 90 by Paul Skilbeck set up an advantage draw for Easingwold over the reigning champions. Josh Greenlay supported with 29 as Easingwold totalled 199-7.

Skilbeck was again to the fore after the tea interval when he claimed 3-52 and James Postill had 3-26 to peg the Grange to 154-6, with Chris Bilton making 37, Tom Young 37 and Chris Suddaby 34.

York II improved their lowly position when they defeated Stamford Bridge by nine wickets thanks to an unbeaten half-century by Ryan McKendry.

Paul Milner made 24 for Stamford but saw his side dismissed for only 108 as Glen Richmond bagged 3-22 and Tom Love 3-11.

York’s reply was led by McKendry, with Sam Beales supporting with 37 not out.

Dunnington’s position at the foot of the division worsened when they lost by two wickets at Beverley as the hosts maintained their pressure on the leading trio.

Adam Sutcliffe hit 70 out of Dunnington's 163 and then took 3-39. Collis King aided with 29, but Alex Morrell took 3-29 and Tom Haytack 3-33.

Beverley’s Andrew Burton then struck 70 and Ian Gillyon made 30 in a winning score of 164-8.

Fenner came off second best at Sheriff Hutton Bridge as the home side won by 101 runs, despite two of their leading batsmen suffering first ball ducks.

After the first of these, Dave Bradshaw (61) and Adam Fisher (64) added 101 for the second wicket before both fell in rapid succession.

Rob Pinder (45) then teamed up with Mark Fisher (63) to carry their side to a total of 255-6.

Mark Fisher (3-56) was straight back into the action after the break and quickly grabbed three wickets. With Eddie Barnes (3-41) also striking twice, Fenner had lost half their side for under 70. Joe Hewitt hit 51 but Jordan Grose with 3-21 helped dismiss Fenner for 154.

Hull Zingari improved their lowly position when they took 27 points from a draw with fellow strugglers Sewerby.

Tenth-placed Bolton Percy had the better of a draw at Folkton & Flixton in division one.

Bolton’s 207-8 included 43 by Joe White, 33 from Tom Atkinson 33, and 25 apiece for Tom Malloch and Dan White, as James Nesfield took 3-34.

In response Neil Elvidge made 47 and Rich Malthouse 33, but Jacob Green’s 3-25 had them flirting with defeat at 186-9.

Leaders Heworth lost their undefeated record when they were soundly beaten by seven wickets at home by Acomb.

Neil Johnson made 29, Sam Lingard 28 and Steve Baxter 39, but the experienced pairing of Dave Sykes (3-35) and Mark Bell (4-36) had Heworth all out for 143.

The Dale brothers then took control, with Matt making 73 and Joe an undefeated 53 in a winning 148-3.

Pickering continued to press their promotion ambitions with a comfortable eight-wicket win when Goole Town visited Mill Lane.

Ollie Ounsley made 35 and Neil Foster 27, but Goole’s 122 was inadequate after good bowling by Mark Shepherd (3-20) and Dave Greenlay (3-33).

Pickering won with ease as Tom Sigsworth hit 69 and Chris Nicholls 34.

Sessay took 24 points and hosts Bridlington 17 in a drawn game.

Tom Wilkinson made 53 not out and Chris Till 31 in Sessay's 176-9 as Sam Edmondson took 3-41 and Simon Leeson 4-29.

Bridlington’s reply featured 43 not out from Nick Tennant but they fell short of victory at 168-5.

Relegation is beginning to threaten Malton & Old Malton after a 36-run defeat at the hands of Driffield Town.

Driffield made 156-8 as Richard Grice made 27, Grant Halder 31 and Alec Drury 33 not out. Stu Whatmore had 3-36 for Malton and then saw team-mate Chris Hudson make 28 but Halder took 4-31 and Drury 4-32.

Selby took no points from their home game against Whitkirk and are seriously adrift at the foot of the division.

They were only able to total 91-9 despite a fighting 54 by Tom Collins and they were beaten by nine wickets.
