SATURDAY specialist George Chaloner can strike again at Beverley this afternoon.

The high-flying Malton apprentice won last Saturday's Northumberland Plate on Angel Gabrial, a victory which came hot on the heels of Baccarat carrying him to victory in the Wokingham Handicap at Royal Ascot just one week earlier.

Chaloner may not have another showcase prize to bid for at Beverley, but he does have every chance of figuring on the score-sheet on at least two of his rides.

Bondi Beach Boy lines up for the featured £12,000 Coachman Caravans Quality Handicap with Chaloner in the saddle and James Turner's sprinter is fancied to resume winning ways. The gelding proved a revelation last season, scoring no fewer than seven times.

He has found it tougher this term, but he has now dropped to a mark of 77, which he won off at Thirsk last August. A horse who loves to bowl along at the head of affairs, Bondi Beach Boy is well-berthed in stall two to do just that and he is fancied to provide Chaloner with his 20th winner of the campaign.

In the Powerpart Fillies' Handicap, Chaloner is reunited with Miss Lucy Jane, trained by his boss Richard Fahey.

The three-year-old won over this course and distance 11 days ago with Chaloner in the saddle and a 6lb higher mark may not prevent her from doubling-up.

Sir Michael Stoute sends Adore to Beverley for the Eltherington Handicap with Paul Mulrennan booked for the mount.

The three-year-old got off the mark at Leicester last time out and may be open to further improvement. She warrants respect, despite a wider than ideal draw.

The nap vote is awarded to World Record, a beaten favourite at Thirsk last month when he found Orpsie Boy too strong over seven furlongs.

John Quinn's gelding now steps up to a mile, which should suit him and with that race, which was his first for some time, under his belt, he is fancied to go one better in the C.G.I. Handicap. Ian Brennan, who requires just one more winner to lose his apprentice tag and join the ranks of fully-fledged jockeys, takes the mount.

All eyes will be on Sandown tomorrow for the showpiece event, the £450,000 Coral Eclipse Stakes, in which the weather could have a big say.

The Fugue is selected to win this Group One event, and follow-up her sensational success over Magician and Treve in the Princess of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot, but if the rain comes and the ground eases it could compromise her chances. By contrast, rain is required for Derby runner-up Kingston Hill, set to be teamed up with Frankie Dettori for the first time, to get the green light to run.

The Fugue is a proven class act - she was a brilliant winner of the Yorkshire Oaks on Knavesmire last August - and she is taken to come out on top, with fingers crossed for a dry forecast!

The drop back to five furlongs on this course last time counted against Royal Seal, who will be much more at home back over the seven furlongs, at which she previously won at Yarmouth, in the Gary Tuck Memorial Handicap, which opens the Sandown card. Sir Michael Stoute has equipped the filly with a first-time hood, which looks significant.

Steps, an unlucky loser of the Epsom Dash, has since run a blinder to finish a close-up sixth in the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot. Roger Varian's high-class sprinter is selected to resume winning ways in the Coral Charge in the hands of Kieren Fallon.
