PLANNING is well under way for the 12th MEM Malton Forest Rally on Sunday, November 2.

Cropton, Gale Rigg and Langdale forests will be used to run six different stages, with the route of this year’s rally being altered from previous runnings.

Officials declared the stages were in excellent condition, with several regraded sections. The rally will be entirely based at Adderstone Field in Dalby Forest.

Ollie Mellors and Reg Smith won last year’s rally driving a Proton Millington Satria, breaking the three-year stranglehold on the title enjoyed by Charlie Payne and Craig Thorley in their Ford Focus WRC 06.

Regulations for this year’s event will be announced on August 1.

Officials are keen to keep the entry fee as low as possible, but the cost will increase slightly to £475 to include the use of Rallitrak (a rally safety system).
