WOODHOUSE Grange booked an area final clash with Studley Royal after dumping Sheriff Hutton Bridge out of the Davidstow National Village Cup.

Grange were 75-run victors over their Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League premier division rivals in Sunday's rearranged North Yorkshire (South) group tie.

The Sutton-on-Derwent hosts batted first and totalled 181-4 from their 40 overs, with Nick Hadfield making 52 and Mike Burdett striking an unbeaten 66. Sheriff youngster Eddie Barnes claimed 3-29.

Paul Oldfield top-scored in the visitors' reply with 21 as they were all out for 106 in 35.2 overs. Josh Jackson's 3-25 was the stand-out Grange bowling figures.

Studley, another premier league opponent, will visit Sutton-on-Derwent this Sunday, 1pm start. The Royals beat Folkton & Flixton by nine wickets in the previous round.

Surprisingly, this will only be Studley’s second match in the competition despite reaching the regional final. They received a bye in the first round followed by a walkover victory over Patrington in their second round tie before their third round win.

Woodhouse Grange captain, Steve Burdett is wary of the dangers that his opposition pose ahead of Sunday’s clash.

“We know we will be against a very well organised side. When you know the opposition, you know what their strengths and weaknesses are, but we have to carry on doing the things we have done and continue the momentum.”

In the North Yorkshire (North) section, Sessay beat hosts Barton to set up an area final trip this weekend to Ebberston, who knocked out Forge Valley.
