CHAMPIONS Woodhouse Grange ended Fenner's brief spell at the top of the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League premier division with a two-wicket win over their rivals.

After losing the toss, the home side found themselves batting against the tight bowling of Andrew Horner, who took 3-11 off his allocation of 15 overs. Former Selby man Josh Jackson took 3-32.

Steven Croft top-scored with 30 in his side's 109 and then took 3-21 as Grange lost eight wickets in their pursuit. Nick Hadfield hit 30 and Tom Young 29.

Dunnington's slow start to the season continued as they were dismissed for 94 in 38 overs chasing Stamford Bridge's 213-8.

Tom Loten (30) was Dunnington’s leading scorer, while Dave Chaplin took 3-20. Bridge veteran Kevin Murphy had earlier led the way with 62 and Ollie Pimlott made 46. Josh Barrett took 4-62 for Dunnington.

Studley Royal had a narrow one-wicket win at strugglers Sewerby.

Russ Robinson top-scored with 39 as Sewerby were dismissed for 126, with Steve Walmsley taking 4-31. Tom Chipchase (4-42) and Robinson (3-28) had Studley in trouble, but captain Rob Nicholson (56) steered them home.

Shipton Road visitors Beverley Town scored 229-8 at York thanks to Andy Burton's 76 not out, 39 from Alex Morrell and 30 by Faisal Abid. Jake Murphy took 3-60.

Morrell then claimed 4-49, but Ian Jarvis (36) and Murphy (30) managed to secure a draw for York.

Newly-promoted Hull Zingari earned their first win of the season, beating Clifton Alliance by 80 runs.

Zingari were bowled out for 221, with Richie Carroll taking 4-32. Despite Scott Hopkinson hitting 61, Clifton were dismissed for 141.

Easingwold kept up the pressure on the leaders by taking the bulk of the points in a draw at Sheriff Hutton Bridge.

James Postill was the pick of the visitors' batsman as he hit an unbeaten 46 in his team’s 175-6, with valuable support from Paul Skilbeck (39).

Despite 63 from Rob Pinder and 30 from Paul Oldfield, the home side closed on 148-7 as Paul Redshaw took 3-27.
