SHERIFF Hutton Bridge and Helperby lead the way in division one of the Pilmoor Evening League with three wins out of three.

Sheriff Hutton Bridge's good start to the season continued with a 30-run victory at Clifton Alliance.

David Speake (30) and Dan Clipstone (29) did most to take them to 106-4, with Lewis Clark taking 2-15 for the hosts.

Jordan Grose (2-21) undermined the home reply and Alliance closed well short on 76-6.

Helperby maintained their 100 per cent start by the narrowest of margins when they entertained Sessay.

Helperby posted 109-7, with Sessay needing seven off the last over to win it only to close on 108-7.

Promoted Sheriff Hutton made 147-4 batting first at home to Newburgh. Dave Taylor (3-25) made early inroads for Newburgh, but a century stand between Geoff Schofield (50 not out) and Andy Frank (63) put them in control.

The visitors closed on 77-8, only Jason Sargent (25) having any answer to David Hull (2-8), Eddie Hull (3-8) and 14-year-old Josh Ainley (1-17).
