A SLEW of modest scoring also ensnared York’s Simon Dyson on the second day of the lucrative BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.
Dyson finished with a two-over-par 74 to leave him one-under at the half-way stage, well inside the mid-point cut, but starting today’s third round tied for 29th place and nine shots shy of joint leaders Thomas Bjorn of Denmark and Ireland’s Shane Lowry.
The York ace suffered two bogeys on the outward nine - at the third and the eighth holes - though he mustered a lone birdie on the fourth.
That pattern was matched on the inward nine where a birdie on the par-four 16th was sandwiched by dropped shots on the 15th and 17th.
As evidence of tougher conditions, Bjorn followed his course record-equalling ten-under first round with a level-par 72 yesterday, while Lowry managed a two-under 70 to match the Dane’s half-way total of ten-under-par.
