YORK Darts Promotions will host their unique darts and fishing event on July 5 following the success of last year’s competition, writes Matt Naylor.

The all-day competition begins with the fishing tournament at Wheldrake’s Raker Lakes followed by its darts tournament at the Flag & Whistle pub in Huntington Road.

Using the Acorn and Horseshoe lakes, partners will be drawn at random with one member of each pairing fishing each pond. The draw for teams and pegs will take place at 8am with fishing from 9am to 2pm.

All anglers must hold a valid rod license and use only one barbless hook at a time.

The individual darts matches will begin at 7pm that night before the same pairs teams from the fishing compete in a separate category.

Prizes will be awarded for each of the categories with the overall darts/fishing winners being decided by a ranking points system.

A £25 entry fee will cover fishing, entry to the fishing competition, entry to the two darts tournaments and refreshments. To register phone Neil Hart on 07921 128063.
