OLD Malton St Mary's and Brooklyn are on course for an all-Ryedale final in the York Minster Engineering League Senior League Cup.

Saints, the newly-crowned premier division champions, maintained their hopes of a second York & District League double in three years - as well as a second trophy treble in three years - as they advanced into the semi-finals of the cup after a hard-fought win over York RI.

Neighbours Brooklyn, from division one, also reached the last four in fine fashion, and are now eyeing another 'giant-killing' to reach the final.

The two teams have been kept apart in the semi-finals, giving the possibility of a big derby day to end the season.

Scott Preston, Jon Newton and Dean Nuttall struck the goals for Old Malton, with Liam Keenaghan replying for a York RI side who finished the game with only eight players after a trio of dismissals.

Saints won the league and cup in 2012, also lifting the York FA Saturday Cup that season.

They remain on course for an even more notable treble this year, having won the North Riding Saturday Senior Cup this term for the first time in their history.

Brooklyn, meanwhile, toppled premier division side St Clement's 2-0 in the quarter-finals on Saturday thanks to goals by Mikey Brown and Ollie Varley.

Brooklyn began the game in their usual blue and white striped shirts but, with complaints of a colour clash with St Clement's purple strip, the hosts changed into green shirts 15 minutes into the match.

In the semi-finals, which take place next Wednesday, St Mary's will meet Huntington Rovers, who saw off Church Fenton White Horse, and Brooklyn will play Wigginton Grasshoppers, who defeated York St John University.

Meanwhile, Terrington Glory ended their their premier division campaign with a 6-0 defeat to league runners-up Riccall United.

Veteran Gary Collier, Wayne Brook (2), Liam Olsson and Dave Heron hit the target with the sixth goal coming courtesy of an own goal. Glory finished the campaign in mid-table.

In reserve 'A', Old Malton's second string fell 3-0 down to Copmanthorpe after goals by Terry Hibbert, Stu Auton and Matty Pallister. Josh Bown struck twice for Malton after the interval but an own goal sealed a 4-2 win for Copmanthorpe.
