THE Derwent Valley Cricket League begins in earnest on Saturday - after receiving another blow.
Sewerby 4ths have resigned from division ‘B’, leaving all teams in this tier now with two free Saturdays in the coming season.
It follows the resignations of Oriel from division ‘A’ and Hunmanby from division ‘C’.
Sewerby 3rds/4ths also conceded their Home Guard Sunday Cup game to Hospitals/Rugby Club CC, which was due to be played last weekend, due to a lack of players.
Hospitals/Rugby Club go through to play Sherburn 2nds at home in round two.
In the Welford Cup, Kirkbymoorside 2nds now get a bye in the preliminary round and will play Flixton 3rds at home in round one.
