VICTORY for Ryedale Sports Club in their last game of the Scarborough & District League division one campaign could not save them from the drop.

Ryedale won 5-3 at Eastfield St James on Saturday thanks to a hat-trick by Jack Hall and a brace from Chris Rhodes.

However, a 1-0 defeat at home to Ayton in midweek consigned meant they still finished bottom of the table.

The Eastfield marksmen were Luke Purvis, Arran Wright and Danny Kelly.

Newlands Park were crowned first division champions on Saturday after second-placed Edgehill were well beaten 4-2 at home by Westover Wasps.

Jordan Shaw had opened the scoring for Westover but two Ricky Greening goals, the first from the spot after Jason Prosser was brought down, and the second set up by Prosser, put Edgehill ahead.

Daz Varley equalised for the visitors before half-time and Westover won it with second-half goals by Curt Rose and Luke Jones.

Ayton bolstered their hopes of avoiding the drop by beating Filey Town 3-1 with two goals by Dan Peel and one from Tyson Stubbings. Max Gage replied.

West Pier won 3-1 at Seamer Sports thanks to goals by Rob Speights (2) and Danny Cooper, Matty Forsyth responding.

In the second division, United Sports Bar beat Sleights 5-3.

A Georgie Rose header put USB ahead, with Ben Watson equalising.

In the second half, Liam Vasey restored USB’s lead before James Fawcett and Jake Faichney put Sleights 3-2 up.

Goals by Terry Breckon, Daz Walters and Jack Walker turned the game back USB’s way.

Division three winners Whitby RUFC beat Falsgrave reserves 5-0 thanks to goals by Marc Usher (2), Mike Kilpatrick, Paul Jobling and Ben Hoggarth.
