Updated 12:55pm Friday 18th April 2014 in Sport
NORTH Yorkshire golfer Simon Dyson sneaked into the last two rounds of the Maybank Malaysian Open with a one under par second round of 71 in Kuala Lumpur.
The 36-year-old, returning to the European Tour after a back injury, improved on his opening day 73 to make the halfway cut by two shots in a tie for 47th place.
Although he dropped a shot at the par four 13th and 17th holes, he reached the turn on an even keel thanks to a birdie three at the 14th.
Dyson effectively made the cut with two birdies in the first three holes of the front nine, picking up shots at the par four first hole and the par five third.
A dropped shot at the 203-yard eighth hole left him at level par heading into the third round.
Ryder Cup star Lee Westwood leads the tournament by four shots on 13 under par, having followed up his opening round of 65 with a 66.
