RYEDALE Sports Club’s hopes of escaping the drop in the Scarborough & District League first division suffered a severe blow as relegation rivals Seamer Sports picked up three vital points.

A late goal by Danny Bradbury after excellent work by Jake Moore gave Seamer a 2-1 victory at Falsgrave, lifting them four points clear of bottom club Ryedale with two games to go.

Matty Forsyth had put Seamer ahead after 20 minutes with Nick Ellis equalising for Falsgrave within 10 minutes.

Ayton, who are second bottom, also picked up a point to go three clear of Ryedale with three games in hand.

They played out a goalless draw at fourth-bottom Whitby Fishermen, with both sides being happy to end the day a point better off in the scrap to beat the drop.

Edgehill maintained their hopes of finishing as runners-up with a 2-0 home win against West Pier.

Liam Cooper gave them the lead on the half-hour mark after good work by Ricky Greening, and midway through the second half Greening set up Lieran Link to double the advantage.

Filey Town had little trouble in beating Eastfield St James 3-1.

Eastfield took a shock lead but Dan Kempson put Filey level and teenager Nathan Taylor and Joe Gage gave them the victory.

In the second division, relegated Rillington Athletic, cast adrift at the foot of the table, ended their season with a 3-0 loss at Scalby.

All the goals came in the first half, with Darren Arnott (2) and Shaun Scales the marksmen.

Luke Chambers put Flixton ahead at home to Snainton, but the visitors equalised just before half-time as their game ended all-square.

In the third division, Ayton reserves lost 3-0 at home to Whitby RUFC. Marc Usher, Steve Ross and a Dan Bywater own goal found the target.

Cayton Corinthians reserves beat Seamer Sports reserves 7-0 thanks to goals by Josh Venner (3), Isaac Sands (2), Martin Harwood and Ashley Durham.
