KIRKBYMOORSIDE starlet Dan Peace’s excellent form continued in the first round of the RT Keedwell British Solo Trials Championships in Bootle, Cumbria.

The 15-year-old recently rode to a confidence-boosting win at the opening round of the British Youth Championships in Devon and to victory in the first round of the European Under-17s Championships in Italy.

In Bootle, Peace showed he also had strength and determination - as well as the talent - to dig in when it mattered, to win the Youth Support Class in the British adult championships by four marks.

In the top class, Scarborough’s Michael Brown, defending his 2013 British Trials Championship crown, won what was a tough opening round by three marks.

Overnight rain had made it a very hard trial and riders really had to fight to stand any chance through the sections.

Meanwhile, Kirkbymoorside’s Mark Harrison was edged out of first place in the expert class at Thirsk District Motor Club’s trial at Long Plain Farm at the weekend.

With the sun beaming down, a full-blooded hill climb awaited at section two, and Faceby’s David Bell fired up clean every lap.

He also produced best ride of the day on the awkward adverse rocks on the next section, losing just three marks, whereas ex-East Yorkshire champion Harrison dropped eight here. Bell ended up winning by four marks.

The much-improved Callum Williamson, from Scarborough, now settling into his new AM Ossa, produced a rock solid ride to beat beat friend and rival Zac Collinson to the youth ‘B’ laurels, while sister Claire won youth ‘D’.
