CHEAPER admission at a number of racecourses in the north will once again reward racegoers who Back a Winner By Train.

The campaign, run by rail operators First TransPennine Express and Northern Rail, gets under way on Saturday when Doncaster hosts the opening day of the new Flat season.

The scheme runs until December 29 and a new racecourse this year is Aintree, with all racedays included at the Merseyside track apart from the Friday and Saturday of the Grand National Meeting.

Racegoers using the train will benefit from up to a £4 discount (£3 at York) on admission into the Grandstand & Paddock enclosures at participating racecourses.

Customers who wish to take advantage of the ‘Back a Winner by Train’ promotion, need to collect a voucher from either their departing or arriving station that then can be presented at the Grandstand & Paddock Enclosure at the desired course. Vouchers are not available on board trains.

Back a Winner by Train features some 180 days of racing at the following courses: Aintree, Beverley, Carlisle, Cartmel, Doncaster, Haydock Park, Hexham, Newcastle, Pontefract, Redcar, Thirsk and York.
