SIMON DYSON has dropped two places in the latest world golf rankings after his latest performance in the European Tour.

The Malton & Norton Golf Club graduate, pictured, finished tied for 37th position in the Trophée Hassan II tournament held at the Golf du Palais Royal in Morocco.

He posted rounds of 73, 70, 71 and 72 for a two-under-par total that left him 17 shots adrift of winner Alejandro Canizares of Spain.

The 36-year-old Dyson’s reward in Morocco was a cheque for just over 9,000 euros. While that took his 2014 earnings to just short of 170,000 euros, it also dropped him two 174th in the world ratings. There is no European Tour event this week.

Meanwhile, the lady captain’s honour at Malton & Norton Golf Club has been passed from Linda Bower to Pat Ruddock.

The traditional season opener of the Lady Captain’s Drive-In was won by Judy Butler and Edna Drabble with a 69, which was one shot ahead of Kirsty Burnett and Lorna Mastaglio in second.

Judith Gibbard won the nearest the Captain’s Drive competition.

Meanwhile, in the York Union Ladies’ Winter Series, Sue Bellion and Carol Simpson took the honours for Malton with 42 points. Malt almost completed a clean sweep, taking third and fourth places as well as first.
