SUNDAY worst was still not enough to halt Simon Dyson posting his best European Tour finish in three months. But the Malton & Norton Golf Club ace will be acutely aware his Tshwane Open show in South Africa could have been much more profitable.

Dyson, who is not in action this week, tied for 10th place, earning more than 20,000 euros.

However, that cheque would have more than doubled but for a triple-bogey eight in the final round.

Two birdies in the opening four holes on that last day at the Copperleaf Golf and Country Estate inched Dyson to a challenging 14-under-par. But a bogey at the ninth and that eight at the 11th knocked him back.

The 36-year-old carded a 73 and got back to 11 under to seal a share of 10th place.

Dyson’s two first rounds comprised a storming 65 and 68, the former his best round in 2014 and graced by four birdies in the final four holes. He shot 71 on Saturday.

Though his weekend work edged him out of the leading five, he advanced four places to 171st spot in the world rankings.

He is also 41st in the Race To Dubai standings.
