A BUSY three days of competition must be endured if Richard Buck is to achieve medal aims at the World Indoor Athletics Championship.

The former Pickering schoolboy, a City of York Athletic Club runner, is part of the British team going for glory in Sopot, Poland, from Friday until Sunday.

He will be one of the first athletes on the track on the opening day when the 400-metre individual heats get under way at 9.45am UK time.

The semi-finals will be staged that evening at 8.25pm.

Heats for the 4x400m relay, for which Buck is also in the British squad, are staged from 10.50am on Saturday, with the individual 400m final set for 7.30pm.

The 4x400 metre men’s relay final closes the championship at 5.40pm on Sunday.

It could be an arduous schedule for Buck, who has targeted another relay medal and wants to reach a first individual world final.
