MALTON’S Yorkshire Squash League team lost 20-2 away to a strong Pontefract II team.
Jamie Hopwood and Simon Middleton each secured a point for Malt, but the result saw them slip back a place to fifth in division one.
In the York & District League, Malton II fell 16-6 at Dunnington IV.
Malt’s winners were Jimmy Mason and Jon Pitkin, and they are now seventh in division three.
Malton III lost 15-7 at York VI, with wins coming from Ian Kneeshaw and John Preston. Duncan Chapman grabbed the team’s other point. They are now fourth in division four.
Malton IV enjoyed a comprehensive 19-5 victory at Selby VI.
Malt’s winners were Pitkin, Mark Baker, Mike Hammond and James Criddle.
Baker saved five match points in the fourth game before clinching the final game 9-3.
Kevin Goddard secured the team’s two other points, helping to lift them back up to third place in division five.
Malton this week hold their annual under-40 and over-40 tournaments.
