OLD Malton’s slide towards relegation from the Yorkshire Men’s League premier division continued with a 2-0 defeat at Sheffield Hallam III on Saturday.

It was their eighth defeat on the trot and the fifth time in six games in which they have failed to score. It left them four points from safety.

Malt will hope home advantage can help a turnaround in the season run-in. They have six games to go and all but one are at their Northern Ryedale Sports Centre base in Pickering – starting with the visit of bottom club Leeds Gryphons II in a six-pointer this Saturday (3pm).

Meanwhile, Pickering fell 3-0 at Sheffield University Bankers II in the Yorkshire Women’s League fifth division, leaving them one place and three points off the drop zone.

Pickering host bottom club Huddersfield Dragons III at the Northern Ryedale Sports Centre this Saturday (1.30pm).
