SCARBOROUGH Athletic twice came from behind on Saturday and then saw goalkeeper Jason White save a late penalty to secure a vital point in their Evo-Stik division one south play-off challenge.

An 85th-minute spot-kick by Gary Bradshaw earned them a 3-3 draw at home to fourth-placed Belper, White then performing his heroics at the other end to deny Jon Froggatt and make up for mistakes in last week’s defeat to Sutton Coldfield.

The Seadogs remain four places and six points off fifth place and host 10th-placed Carlton Town on Saturday knowing maximum points this time is crucial.

Paul Foot was back in Boro’s defence, while Hull City loanee Jack Barlow made his full debut at left-midfield. Foot almost managed a dream return when he flicked a near-post header just wide.

However, Froggatt headed Belper ahead and Simon Harrison doubled the lead with a rebound following another set-piece.

Boro hit back as Jimmy Beadle’s low ball that was superbly converted by former Hull and Cheltenham forward Bradshaw and they grabbed a deserved equaliser when Beadle struck during a goalmouth scramble.

However, Froggatt ran clear on the stroke of half-time and managed to beat White with a weak shot.

White excelled in the second half, with several super late saves, including the penalty stop.

At the other end Andy Milne had a goal ruled out for offside and Matty Plummer somehow bundled the ball wide and not in, before the equaliser arrived.

Pete Davidson was brought down and Bradshaw fired in the penalty.

Belper were given their spot-kick when Foot leaned too forcefully on substitute Kieran Wells but hat-trick-seeking Froggatt scuffed his effort and White read it well.

Belper could still have won it but Gareth Davies’ effort hit the bar and White superbly tipped over the follow-up effort, before producing another magnificent stop from Warne.

Whitby Town dropped one place to eighth in the Evo-Stik League premier division after their blank weekend.

Blyth Spartans jumped above them into sixth place after a 4-2 home win against Witton Albion.

Whitby return to action on Saturday when they host 11th-placed Rushall Olympic (3pm).
