PAUL DAVISON must shock one of the world’s top ten snooker players if he is to cause a stir at the German Masters tomorrow.

Hong Kong’s Marco Fu, ranked at number nine, stands in the way of the Pickering professional and a place in the last 32 of the popular tournament, staged at the Tempodrom in Berlin.

Fu and Davison face off tomorrow morning and the 42-year-old North Yorkshire player has fond memories of the competition.

His best performance in a ranking event came when he reached the last 32 in 2012 before losing to former UK champion Judd Trump. He matched that feat at the Australian Goldfields Open last year.

Davison’s exploits in the Snooker Shootout at Blackpool on Friday night were ended at the first hurdle as Alfie Burden rattled in a 96 break to win their quick-fire ten minute frame.

The North Yorkshire player did little wrong but found, as did a number of professionals that weekend, that luck – so prominent in this format – was not with him.
