BRIAN PALLISTER ended 2013 on a high note, winning the Black Horses’ final match of the year at Raker Lakes with 37lb 14oz.

Drawn at peg 14 on the High Bank and casting out to the midway point with bomb and sweetcorn, he tempted carp to the 6lb mark.

Colin McNeil sat at the opposite side of the lake on peg five and employed the identical tactics to secure second place with 19lb 14oz, leaving Gordon Farmery to fill third place off peg 15 with 14lb 12oz.

Phil Roberts got the new year off to the best possible start, winning Friday’s Westland’s AC match on the Dog Bone lake with 37lb.

Fishing along the near-side margin at peg 26 with the pole at either seven or 11 metres and utilising pellet for bait, he banked a ghost carp around the 2.5lb mark plus lots of F1s to 1.5lb apiece.

Travelling companion Terry Tierney crossed the line in second with 27lb 10oz from peg 30, relegating Alan Creaser into third with 21lb.
