FREE-SCORING Pickering Town trounced ten-man Maltby Main 6-1 to take their Northern Counties East League tally to 34 goals in six games.

The Pikes, the premier division’s most prolific scorers with 88 goals in 28 games, moved up to sixth in the table on the back of their big home win.

Shawn Mitchell was red-carded for the visitors on 15 minutes and Ged Dalton gave the Mill Lane hosts the lead on 33 minutes before Joe Danby netted a second on the stroke of half-time.

Sam Forster got Maltby back in the game on 55 minutes, but three minutes later Chris Batchelor struck to restore Pickering’s two-goal advantage.

Simon Hickey put through his own net on 81 minutes and teenage substitute Daniel O’Connor got on the scoresheet in the 85th minute, before Danby bagged his second in the last minute.

Second-placed Tadcaster Albion were without a game in the league, but they came from behind to draw 1-1 in a friendly with Richmond Town.

Selby Town slipped to 11th in Northern Counties East League division one after a 2-0 defeat at Clipstone. After a goalless first half, Adam Wisdom netted the opener on 53 minutes and Matt Austin made sure of the points ten minutes later.

Knaresborough Town took a 28th-minute lead at home to Shirebrook Town thanks to Colin Heath, but two second-half goals earned the visitors a 2-1 win.

Striker Jason Price scored twice on his debut for Shaw Lane Aquaforce after leaving Selby Town over the Christmas period. Price helped his new team win 4-0 at Teversal to go joint-top of the table.

Ninth-placed Harrogate Town suffered a third consecutive defeat in Conference North, losing 1-0 at Vauxhall Motors.

Three goals in the opening 26 minutes earned Harrogate Railway Athletic a 3-1 home victory over Kendal Town in Evo-Stik League division one north.

Colin Hunter opened the scoring on 23 minutes and Nathan Cartman made it 2-0 within 60 seconds. Hunter then added his second from the penalty spot on 26 minutes.

Maison McGeechan pulled a goal back for the visitors with six minutes remaining at Station View.

Scarborough Athletic held on for a 2-2 draw at Leek Town in division one south after the second-half dismissal of Gary Bradshaw.

Ryan Blott netted the Athletic opener on 24 minutes, but Joel Johnston levelled for the home side two minutes later.

Ryan Williams gave the visitors the lead for a second time three minutes after the break, but a penalty from Jordon Johnson on 52 minutes secured a point for Leek.
