TADCASTER Albion were knocked off the top of the Northern Counties East League premier division as their 24-match unbeaten run came to an end.
The Brewers were beaten 1-0 at home by third-placed Albion Sports, allowing Barton Town Old Boys to move to the summit on goal difference.
Liam Ormsby’s 58th minute goal was the match-winner, condemning the Ings Lane hosts to their first league defeat since Brighouse beat them 3-1 on August 13.
Pickering Town bounced back from their first defeat in five matches as two late goals earned them a 5-3 victory at Garforth Town.
The Pikes dominated the opening exchanges and Tony Hackworth put them in front on six minutes.
Curtly Martin-Wyatt quickly levelled for the home side, but Pickering forged ahead again with a penalty from Hackworth after Ged Dalton was felled by the ’keeper on 22 minutes.
Two Garforth goals in two minutes – from Tim Robertson and Josh Greenhalgh on 24 and 25 minutes – turned the game on its head and the home side led 3-2 at the break.
Pickering pulled level in controversial circumstances in the 64th minute when Jimmy Beadle rolled a free-kick into the net with Garforth claiming they were not ready for the set-piece.
A deflected Josh Greening goal on 88 minutes put the Pikes in front again and they added a fifth through Sam Calvert in stoppage time.
Selby Town lost 4-2 at Hall Road Rangers – only the Robins’ second defeat in 12 division one matches.
The visitors got off to a flying start with a goal from former Doncaster Rovers striker Jason Price on 17 minutes.
Rangers hit back to lead 3-1 at the break thanks to a 22nd- minute equaliser from Corey Mortimer and two strikes by Chris Adams.
Tom Owen pulled a goal back for Selby with 20 minutes to go, but Adams’ hat-trick goal added to the hosts’ tally.
Knaresborough Town’s game at Pontefract Collieries was postponed.
Harrogate Town dropped to eighth in Conference North after a 1-0 defeat at struggling Worcester City. Ebby Nelson-Addy bagged the winner on 11 minutes.
In Evo-Stik League division one north, Harrogate Railway Athletic went down 2-0 at Warrington Town.
Ciaran Kilheeney and Christopher Gahgan scored in the second half.
Scarborough Athletic suffered their fourth home defeat in division one south, losing 3-1 to Loughborough Dynamo.
Gary Bradshaw put the home side in front on 25 minutes, but Nathan Watson levelled eight minutes later and second-half goals from Luke Smithson and Kris Nurse settled it.
