John Quinn, out of luck at Catterick yesterday when his well-regarded young hurdler Forced Family Fun unseated his rider at the very first flight after colliding with another runner in mid-air, can gain compensation at Market Rasen this afternoon.

The Norton trainer has prospects of completing a double with Innsbruck and Distime, both mounts of Brian Hughes.

Innsbruck was a 50-1 winner on his debut on the Flat at Pontefract in September. He had his first outing over hurdles at Sedgefield last month and proved disappointing in finishing only sixth after appearing to struggle to find a decent rhythm through the race.

He is surely capable of doing a lot better than that. Innsbruck runs in the Watch Racing UK On Sky 432 Juvenile Hurdle and is fancied to get his act together.

Distime is a fascinating runner in the Emerald Green Feeds Novices’ Handicap Chase.

A winner of a bumper and a hurdle, Distime is a talented horse, but is returning from an absence of more than a year. He has not been seen out since going down by a length and a half to Unioniste in a novice chase at Aintree. Considering the winner of that contest is now rated 152 over fences, there was no disgrace in that defeat.

Distime lacks experience over the major obstacles, but, provided his jumping holds up, he should run a big race over this extended three miles and is awarded the nap vote.

Tony McCoy makes an appearance at the Lincolnshire course and could be rewarded with a winner or two. The champion jockey teams up with Captain Cutter in the Expert Guide At marketrasenracecoursetips.co.uk Novices’ Hurdle.

Trained by Nicky Henderson for J P McManus, Captain Cutter made a smooth debut over hurdles at Kempton when winning by ten lengths last month. He had looked smart in bumpers and he promises to be even better over obstacles. A 7lb penalty should not stop him today.

McCoy also rides Bandit Country in the Boxing Day Is Next National Hunt Flat Race.

Trained by Jonjo O’Neill, it is impossible to know how good this four-year-old might be, but he comes from a stable in flying form and is a well-bred son of Flemensfirth, so it would be no surprise if he was above average.

Brian Ellison, just one winner shy of recording his 100th winner – Flat and jumps – of 2013, can hit the milestone with Andreo Bambaleo in the Book Your Hospitality Packages With Us Handicap Hurdle.

Nathan Moscrop’s mount chased home Cloudy Bob in a similar race here a couple of weeks ago.

At Wolverhampton’s twilight Flat meeting, It’s My Time may prove the answer to the opening Ladbrokes Apprentice Handicap.

The Richard Fahey-trained filly was out of her depth in Listed company last time out, but she had previously run well in a couple of handicaps here. She should be in the mix again under Samantha Bell.
