WHITWELL-ON-THE-HILL ace Terry Temple reached round two of Players Championship 13 but exited at the first hurdle of Players Championship 14 in Wigan.

Temple beat Daryl Gurney 6-5 in the opening round of the first tournament, but bowed out after a 6-1 defeat by Michael Smith at the second stage.

The competition was won by Brendan Dolan, who defeated emerging star Ricky Evans 6-3.

The Ryedale player lost in round one of the second tournament, going down 6-1 to Ryan Harrington.

Ian White beat Andy Jenkins 6-3 in the final.

Meanwhile, White Swan beat visitors Sun Inn to head the Moors League by four points after every game this week ended 7-3.

Tony Cass put Swan ahead, notching two 140 scores, before Geoff Allen levelled for Sun, beating the high-scoring Keith Eddon (140, 2x100).

Eddie Craggs and Paul Carter restored Swan’s dominance with a couple of tons apiece.

New Inn hold second place with a game in hand after being held to 4-3 by Crown Inn after the individuals in which Nie Monkman recorded 140 and two 100s.

The Cropton team proved too strong for Crown in the pairs and three-a-side legs.

Third-placed Blacksmiths Arms ‘B’ won at Buck Inn ‘A’ thanks to wins by Ash Hodgson, Lee Miers, Vanessa Wilson, Rob Allanson (101 checkout) and Paul Miers. Dave Ord (140, 100) starred for Buck as he beat Jonno Bointon (140, 100).

Keith Dickson and Nigel Aconley recorded 140s in Moors Inn’s victory over Coach House ‘A’ with Laura Thompson and Jimmy Porter (2x100) providing the main resistance.

Danny Thornton (140) helped Blacksmith Arms ‘A’ to beat visitors Buck Inn ‘B’. Lucy Rutter and Durrant trio Mally, Adam and Matt also won for Blacksmiths, while Col Ward and Clive Atkinson replied.

In the Pickering League, captain Ash Hodgson (180, 64 checkout) got Station Hotel off to a winning start against Working Men’s Club ‘B’, but Club took the next six games, Keith Eddon leading the way with an 18-darter including a 150 finish. Geoff Atkinson also hit a 180 in a 19-dart leg.

Rob Aconley opened with a 67 finish for Sun Inn ‘B’ against Rec Club but Roger Dawson replied with a 110 outshot as Rec took control to win 6-1.

Horseshoe ‘A’ whitewashed their ‘B’ team. Mike Brown hit a tidy 98 finish and Graham Steel threw a 21-darter.

Black Swan outclassed Sun Inn ‘A’ 6-1, new signing Mike Linsley (180, 100, 18-dart leg) shining.

Royal Oak led WMC ‘A’ 2-1, captain Martin Cook with a 21-darter and 115 finish, but Club hit back through Arthur Gibson (4x100, 19-darter) and Derek Bannister (140, 125, 2x100, 20-darter) to win 5-2.
