8:00am Wednesday 16th October 2013 in Sport
MALTON ‘A’ made it two wins from two matches as they beat a depleted Acomb ‘B’ 4-3 in the York Conservative Clubs’ Carlsberg UK League.
The teams shared the opening four frames with successes for Malton’s Simon Weatherill, with a break of 27, and Roger Ward, with runs of 25 and 20, cancelled out by Brian Henry (22 break) and Chris Nicholson, who had a 52-point start on Lee Taylor.
Phil Hart and Steve Beal sealed Malton’s victory before Steve Rodgers won the last frame for Acomb.
Malton have taken eight points from their two matches and they have games in hand on the rest of the league, except for reigning champions Heworth ‘A’ who have only played one match.
Weatherill’s 39 break from Malton’s first match puts him second in the Pasema Paving Highest Break standings, behind Fulford’s Andy Marshall with his run of 40.
