Josh Tateson’s treble fires Wombleton Wanderers

WOMBLETON Wanderers were 7-0 winners over Gillamoor in their first ever Scarborough & District FA Junior Cup tie.
Josh Tateson was Wanderers’ star man in round two of the Coopers of Pickering-sponsored competition, netting a hat-trick.
Michael Turnbull opened the scoring on six minutes and midway through the half Gillamoor were forced into a reshuffle when defensive king-pin Craig Harrison was carried off with a knee problem and a facial injury.
Josh Tateson bagged his first two goals before half-time and he completed his treble after the break following Wombleton goals by Connor Campbell, Jake Dennison and Luke Tateson.
Right-back turned centre-back George Oyston was Gillamoor’s man of the match.
Hosts Thornton-le-Dale were edged out in a seven-goal thriller against Sinnington.
The Sinners took the lead through Toby Edwards on 30 minutes, but Dale stunned the visitors early in the second half by taking a 3-1 lead.
David Elliott levelled after 48 minutes, then Tom Atkinson and Rory Lancaster created the chance for Elliott’s second after 62 minutes, before man-of-the-match Tim Hunt set up Jamie Dennison on 70 minutes.
The Sinners threw on young Luke Clemmit and, after almost scoring with his first touch, he netted on 76 minutes following a goalmouth scramble after a corner.
Two minutes later, the visitors bagged the winning goal when Edwards, his side’s top performer, fired in an unstoppable 20-yard volley.
Kirkbymoorside Reserves beat Scalby 4-2.
Scalby led through Ashley Townley, but the Moorsiders hit back to lead 2-1 at the break thanks to goals by Aaran Rivis and Ryan Rivis.
Lee Nesfield and Ryan Rivis made it 4-1 before Scalby’s Carl Townley scored a late penalty.
Josh Butler was Kirkby’s man of the match.
Kirkdale United lost 10-0 at home to Lealholm, after losing ’keeper Darren Smith to injury after 20 minutes when the score was 0-0.
Duncan Marson, Andrew Menzies (2), Kevin Brown, Nathan Gibson, Tom Raw (2), Mike Thompson, Jack Boddy and Mike Hougate netted.
Jason Kelly was Kirkdale’s mainstay.
Brooklyn Reserves beat Goldsborough United 1-0 with a goal by substitute Tom Campbell.
Norton United crashed out 3-0 at home to Rosette, whose goals came in the last 10 minutes from Alex Wray, Jamie Wray and Wayne Shaw, all after Norton’s Ben Legard had hit the crossbar on 75 minutes.
Man-of-the-match winners were Norton ’keeper Paul Enwhistle and Rosette centre-back Guy Newbold.
Adam Stockell struck twice to earn Athletico 2B a 2-0 win over Malton & Norton Reserves.
Sam Swift was 2B’s man of the match, with Adam Cooke taking the Malton & Norton honours.
Sleights thumped Settrington 10-0 thanks to goals by Jake Faichney (4), Ben Watson (3), Simon Taylor, Mark McArthur and James Fawcett.
Flixton and Snainton drew 3-3, with Snainton going through 5-4 on penalties.
James Hughes, Tim Jackson and man-of-the-match Luke Midgley scored Flixton and Snainton responded through Shane Holt and Rob Holt (2).
Holders Lingdale United needed penalties to beat Edgehill Reserves, winning 6-5 after a 2-2 draw.
Ayton Reserves and Commercial drew 3-3, with Ayton winning the shoot-out 5-4.
Commercial’s scorers were Chris Wilson, with a penalty, Jackson Jowett and Ryan Samers.
John Grayston (2) and Tyson Stubbings were the Ayton marksmen.
The draw for the third round is: Kirkbymoorside Res v Ayton Res, Wombleton Wanderers v Filey Town Res, Sleights Res v United Sports Bar or Cayton Corinthians, Lealholm v Rosette, Brooklyn Res v Snainton, Slingsby v Sleights, Lingdale Utd v Athletico 2B, Sinnington v Falsgrave Reserves.
The ties are to be played on Saturday, November 16.
