Union Rovers' second string hit division two summit

UNION Rovers 2nds are the new leaders of newitts.com Beckett League division two after a 3-0 home win over Thornton-le-Dale Reserves.
The first half ended in stalemate but Union took the points thanks to a brace of second-half goals by man-of-the-match Richard Abbey plus a Phil Smith strike.
Slingsby moved up to fourth place after a 5-1 home win against Heslerton Reserves.
Slingsby forged ahead after only two minutes when Sean Keefe scored and, just before half-time, Scott Simpson doubled the lead.
In the second half, Slingsby moved up a gear and man-ofthe- match Simpson scored two more to complete his fourth successive hat-trick.
Peter Tiffney scored for Heslerton but a James Hopwood goal restored Slingsby’s four-goal advantage.
Chris McPhilemy was Heslerton’s top performer.
Rillington Athletic Reserves recorded their first league win of the season when they beat visitors Pickering Knights 2-1.
Rillington cruised into a twogoal lead thanks to a Jordan Horsley double.
The Knights came back well in the second half with a goal by Andrew Spittlehouse.
Both teams finished with ten men when Rillington’s Cameron Smith and Spittlehouse were given their marching orders.
Goalkeeper Lewis Smith was Rillington’s man of the match, while midfielder Jono Trousdale took the Knights’ award.
