Table Tennis: Coneysthorpe ‘A’ take early charge
8:00am Wednesday 9th October 2013 in Sport
CONEYSTHORPE ‘A’ look an early bet for the Ryedale League title after taking maximum points from an 8-2 win over Amotherby ‘B’ in their opening game in division one.
Coneysthorpe featured the muscle of Tim Adams and guile of Jo Sucheki and, while drawing 2-2 after four sets, they took charge with quickfire Adams untroubled.
Gareth Bryning and Andy Seed pipped Malc Haswell for the understrength home side’s only wins, though Tom Thorp played well against the same opponents, only going down in five.
Swinton ‘A’ also won 8-2, against Ryedale ‘B’, Ian Stansfield winning all three games in his first match since injury prior to the Christmas break last season.
In division two, Ryedale ‘E’ lead the way after taking nine of the available 12 points in their first two contests, beating Ryedale ‘F’ 6-4, and Hutton-le-Hole ‘B’ 7-3.
In division three, newly-formed Ryedale ‘H’, including veteran Ken Pigeon, and father and son duo Adrian and Josh Greaves, who all won five of their first six matches, are the early leaders having dropped only one point in their two games
