Simon Dyson’s bid for Dubai place boosted
YORK’S back-to-form golfer Simon Dyson is back in the automatic places for the Europan Tour’s end of season climax.
Dyson’s joint third place in the KLM Dutch Open – his best performance of the year – earned a cheque for more than £70,000.
That prize money propelled the 35-year-old into 59th place in the bid to be among the leading 60 golfers who qualify for the Race To Dubai climax in November when the season-ending hurrah comprises a tournament in Dubai worth more than $8½million in prize money.
Dyson’s Dutch Open display, in which he came close to a record-equalling fourth victory in the event, took his earnings this year to beyond 410,000 euros and closer to clinching that top-60 end-of-season spot.
The new world rankings have been delayed until later today.
