Graeme Armstrong goals not enough for Whitby Town
3:14pm Wednesday 11th September 2013 in Sport
WHITBY Town’s unbeaten start to the season ended this week as they picked up only one point from two games – despite four goals from Graeme Armstrong.
Last Wednesday they fell 5-2 at home to an impressive Worksop Town side, in front of a crowd of 275.
Leon Mettam put Worksop ahead with a penalty and Connor Higginson doubled the lead, before Armstrong scored twice either side of the break to equalise.
The Tigers quickly restored their lead, though, as Mettam completed a hat-trick either side of a Jack Muldoon goal.
Armstrong also scored twice on Saturday when the Blues hosted Barwell in a first-ever meeting of the clubs. However, Connor Gudger hit back with a brace of his own in a 2-2 draw.
Whitby were 14th position in the Evo-Stik League premier division table ahead of last night’s (Tuesday’s) trip to Trafford.
On Saturday, Town are at home in the first round qualifying round of the FA Cup to Northern League first division side West Auckland Town, who are unbeaten in their five league games.
