Trial Biking: Youthful Kendra claims victory
2:57pm Wednesday 4th September 2013 in Sport
Scarborough DMC brought their popular club series of trials at Harwood Dale to a close on Saturday and in glorious summer weather Ollie Kendra signed off with a win in the Masters class from Scarborough’s Shaughan Galway.
There was no matching the youthful exuberance of Kendra as he produced superb rides on the difficult third and seventh sections that would revive Galway’s memories of his own youth career, before later embarking as minder to Scarborough’s World Championship rider Michael Brown.
Hutton-le-Hole’s Tom Wood topped the expert class from Gary Collinson, with fellow Scarborough rider Rob McLaughlan best Intermediate.
Steve Temple, riding at his best now, almost toppled the unbeatable Colin Bailey off the Clubman B perch, but even on the big Trifield, Bailey edged it on most cleans rule. Kate Hunter slipped to third after losing two marks on the eighth, where Bailey and Temple remained clean.
York’s Mark Coulson proved a clear winner from Andy Beane in Clubman A and Michael Todd headed Youth A.
There has been a resurgence in Youth D entries and it was the girl power of Scarborough’s Claire Collinson who just edged out the remarkable Toby Teasdale, from Helmsley, by four marks with Alick sharp in third.
Scarborough DMC would like to thank all who supported and helped make it a great series over a marvellous summer.
